Last Sunday morning (the day before the feast of the Baptism of the Lord) I gave a sermon about Enlightenment, about water, about the physical properties of the origin of the Universe, about photons, plasma, and Consciousness.

Brief summary:

✨ Part 1.

The Bible says that on the first two days of Creation, God created Light and Water.

And God said: let there be light. And there was light

All creation began from these two ‘things’ and what modern astrophysicists have found is that the Universe in the first ‘seconds’ of its ‘birth’ consisted of light and plasma - a ‘broth’ of particles from which stars and planets subsequently began to form, and we all carry within us a combination of these proto-particles from which the cells of our body are woven.

And God said: let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. [And it was so.]

Primordial light - photons of cosmic microwave background radiation - move at the speed of light and therefore in their own reference frame their age equals zero - that is, to get from the beginning to us they spent ‘0’ seconds of time.🤷‍♂️ They permeate us and this light is part of our nature.

Also, materially we are created from particles - stardust - which are ‘Lego blocks’ for the entire Universe.

✨ Part 2.

One of the greatest Mysteries of the Universe is human Consciousness. How did it happen that a specific ‘soup’ of molecules began to possess the subjective experience of Self, and which maintains self-consciousness with complete change of the system’s components (body cells) during the organism’s life (during a person’s life, the cells of his body completely change several times)? There is no answer to this question.

We assume that a significant part of the Universe exists in the ‘darkness’ of self-consciousness - not having subjective experience. Human consciousness is light in the Universe.

✨ Part 3.

Through consciousness, a person not only Sees the beginning of the Universe, but also sees the Creator. God Reveals Himself to man - Theophany - and thanks to Consciousness, man Sees God, because he is in the Light.

Besides this, through Consciousness man communicates with God and the way of communication is prayer in faith.

Consciousness calls God’s grace upon the matter of water and through faith there occurs a union of uncreated Light with Matter.

The feast of Theophany, Baptism, the Great Blessing of Water - all this is directly connected with the first seconds of the Universe’s origin, our current nature and matter, and the sanctification of water occurs through illumination by Divine grace, thanks to faith and the light of Christian consciousness.

Yesterday in church a person came up to me and said, “Father, I was at Liturgy last Sunday and heard your sermon about photons… I came from Albany, NY to a conference dedicated to the physics of photons and ended up at your sermon! Thank you very much!”

I was amazed by the coincidence…
